There is an unexplainable pleasure in sitting down and just playing with charcoal and pastel. Each goes on the page so easily; blending with the fingers is a tactile joy and blending with the felt stump begins to equal the feeling of painting. Adding, subtracting, blending, more pressure on the paper, less, etc.--all add to the final image.
Solitaire is one of my latest efforts using this technique--may even be the basis of a painting. What is she contemplating?
