Another monotype of a face, this time, a female face. I love the monotype process--so magical, gratifying when it works. Etching ink of a Lucite plate, moving the ink around, adding new colors, removing colors, scratching into the ink and et voilà, a new image. Some work; some don't. I like to approach the creation of a monotype much as I approach the creation of an oil painting. Picasso had little patience for drawing out the etching and monoprint process--he wanted instant gratification. I understand completely.
