Throughout the ages there have always been independent women inspite of their circumstances or the time in which they lived. This woman speaks for the ages--she stands away from the crowd and is not afraid to let her position be known. I worked on this painting from time to time for two or three months, never satisfied with the woman who appeared. Finally, there she was, assured, beautiful, and not afraid to stand away from the crowd--a mind of her own. As I look at my own life, there is a part of this woman in my makeup, but it took me a good many years to learn to be self assertive. Now watch out!
Away from the Crowd, Oil on Canvas, 12" X 9" (image size).
