Ancient Wisdom, Oil on Gessobord, 5 X 5” (image size), 8 3/4 X 8 3/4” (framed size), $160
Ancient wisdom came in many different packages in many different cultures, sometimes nondescript without a face, but wise nonetheless; sometimes in the regalia of religion and mythology. Both are pictured in this miniature. The female is Neith, a separate deity of Lower Egypt. One of the stories surrounding her includes her as the source of ancient wisdom whose wisdom is sought in the story of Horus and Set.
I like to paint from times past, present, and future. The past tells us so much about where we are as world. What does the story of Neith tell?
