I am always intrigued by the ways in which viewers interpret my abstract paintings. At a recent show a friend responded to this painting as very European. Not sure why--perhaps the fish which looks as if it has come from the market. I was very flattered--I love Europe and would like to spend more time in France and Italy. From my point of view I see the painting as a commentary
on the way that our lives have become very separated from as a result of technology. We still want social contact, but now there is a distance that has to be overcome. Hopefully, we still take time to talk over dinner.
