The Portuguese Customs debacle, which is now solved, put me into a space where I had difficulty forcing myself to work. Customs has been solved--the paintings are at the gallery awaiting a new time for an exhibition and I am trying to get back to work. As the old saying goes, "Just show up" and that is what I am doing. Sometimes looking at something old in a new way is just the kick that one needs. And so I looked through some of my older work and came across this drawing.
I drew this several years back inspired by the work of Henry Moore. Moore loved organic shapes and was inspired in his work by bones of various shapes and sizes. Why couldn't I do the same?
So I rotated the image to this:
A different look, different message, and perhaps a new direction for my drawing. This one reminds me so much of a leg bone stuck into a shoe.
