The Traveler,Monotype on Paper, 16" X 6" (image size), 21" X 11" (matted and framed size), $295 USD
As I viewed this monotype after printing it, I thought of the many women who had come before me, how they have forged a way through difficulties of raising children, making a way in the world, and surviving through so much. The image is symbolic of where we have been and how we continue to make our way in this modern world. More specifically, because I live in a town with many Native Americans and the Taos Pueblo only about 4 miles away, this could be an image of a Native American from the early 1900s. Regardless, I feel a very spiritual connection to this woman.
As I have said many times in this blog, I never know exactly what the final form of a monotype will be nor do I start out with a final form in mind. The traces of my soul always seem to outweigh the traces of the physical world.
